There’s a little bit of friendly competition in March and April in the Tesco “Bags of help” voting scheme because there are two projects in Eversley that residents can vote for.
The Parish Council’s “Eversley Outdoors “campaign to rejuvenate the Cross Green Pond.
The pond at Cross Green is rapidly deteriorating and needs TLC to turn it into a resource that everyone can benefit from. The project includes dredging the pond, tidying up the trees around it, repairing the bank and turning it into a lovely open space for the community to use for picnics and recreation. By encouraging new wildlife to the pond and creating a nature walk with wild flowers, this project also aims to raise public awareness, especially amongst children, about the natural environment.
Eversley Village Hall, “Fit for the Future”
The Village hall is an asset to the whole community and is in regular use for all sorts of purposes. But the current kitchen is in desperate need of replacement. The layout is unsuitable to cater for bigger events. This puts people off hiring the hall, is hard on our volunteers, and can be unsafe because too many people try to work around each other. To comply with current standards of environmental health, and ensure the Hall is a safe environment for users, a new kitchen will need to be installed and equipped. This project will make the hall a great community building that residents and local groups can use. We are very lucky to have a local amenity like this right in the centre of our village and the refurbishment project will ensure the village hall will be available not only to us, but to future generations too.
Voting is open in all Tesco stores throughout March and April. Customers will cast their vote using a token given to them at the check-out in store each time they shop.
Please make sure you ask for a token and pop it in one of the voting booths to help either of these Eversley Projects.
